How to Practice Self-Love

In this inspirational video, we explore how to boost your sense of self love, value your own needs and make yourself a priority.

Whenever we experience a disappointment or life challenge that impacts our emotions, heart space, and self-esteem there is an intrinisic need to practice self-love.

How Our Self-Esteem Gets Affected…

We can all be guilty of negative self-talk and having constant mental chatter going off in our head about life experiences that didn’t go our way.  Often questioning our own decision making, actions and undervaluing our own self-worth and need to loved, respected and appreciated.

When we know how to practice acts of self-love, we fill up our own cup. We realign with our values, decide what it is healthy for us and say no to things that drain our energy and emotions.

Self-love is all about doing things that make you happy and bring you joy! Taking the time to look after your physical body and emotional wellbeing.

Why Releasing Attachments to Self is Important

An act of self-love is to lighten the emotional burdens on Self. To release past attachments to negative life experiences that have happened to us, releasing connections to toxic people and heartbreak.

Releasing attachments to Self is a conscious mental and emotional choice to stop reliving the past and to let go of expectations and outcomes. To live fully present in the moment and focus on what’s most important to you.

When we can apply forgiveness to situations and people, wish them well energetically and mean it, we release ourselves.

The act of forgiveness is not about saying things that happened was okay, its about you letting situations go and healing emotionally.

Freeing Yourself!

Don’t Isolate Yourself

When we lose a relationship or are in conflict with others, we can have an intense desire to isolate ourselves and withdraw.

It can be healthy to regroup and soothe our emotions until we feel more balanced and in control of our emotions.

But it should be a temporary thing.

As humans we were born to connect. If you are feeling emotionally needy and imbalanced which can stem from loss, learning to connect in healthy ways to others is beneficial.

Join a networking group, social group, sporting activity or special interest group that encourages you to connect to others.

Practice feeling comfortable in this space, own it until you feel empowered and strong.

You’ve got this!

Learn to Love Your Body & Who You Are

If you are feeling self-conscious about your body and how you look, then it’s time to love your body and feel more comfortable in your own skin.

Our Self-Esteem is very attuned to how we feel about our physical body and attractiveness to others, borne of a need to be accepted.

This stems back to the beginning of time when a basic human need was to be part of a group to ensure physical survival. As humans, we carry around this fear of being rejected at a Soul level.

So how do you come to a place of self-acceptance where you literally don’t care what others think about you?

It often comes down to letting of inhibitions about your physical body.

Allowing yourself to feel a sense of freedom and confidence to wear anything you want to wear and to embrace your individuality.

This takes courage and getting out of your comfort zone.

Practice feeling comfortable in situations where previously you would have felt uncomfortable.

For me, it was challenging myself to love my body and doing a beach walk in nothing but my bikini. Feeling that beautiful sense of connection to mother earth, my body and not caring what anyone thought about me.

It was felt uncomfortable at first, but the more I did it the more relaxed and loving I felt towards my physical body.

I am now totally comfortable in that space. You will too!

Celebrating & Loving Your Value

The final part of this equation of Self-Love is to celebrate and recognise your value. Self-love is not selfish, it is an essential part of your emotional and mental wellbeing.

To know that you deserve a beautiful love relationship that is supportive, loyal, trustworthy, respectful and loving.

Recognising that your needs and wants have as much value as anyone else’s. Whether that relates to family, friends, children, and love partners.

That you deserve to live a life of happiness, love, joy and abundance!

Each day take steps to live your best life. Love yourself fully and do what’s best for you!
